What is your clinical area of interest?

I went into general surgery because I love the breadth of practice. I like the mix of breast surgery, colon resections, cholecystectomy, hernia repair and endoscopy. I did a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Toronto, and I appreciate how quickly patients recover after laparoscopic surgery. I also completed a Master's degree in Health Managment at McMaster University as I have an interest in surgical safety and quality improvement. I'm excited that I just had a paper accepted for publication that looks at the effectiveness of the surgical safety checklist.

How do people refer to you?

You can fax a referral to: 905 693 1129. I also see patients with breast pathology through the Diagnostic Assessment Program at Milton Hospital.

Name one person you would take with you if you were going to be stranded on a desert island and why?

Well, I just listened to a podcast about the first explorer to reach the South Pole, so I would bring Roald Amundsen. It sounds like had great survival skills and instincts, although hopefully he is as good at building a boat as he is at driving a dog sled.

Which of these things could you not live without?

Coffee or tea: Tea. English breakfast, chai, peppermint, hot, cold, latte - I love tea in every form!

Chocolate or chips: Chocolate for sure.

Books or TV: I want to be intellectual and say books, but if I'm honest, it is feel-good, low stress TV shows.
